Tobermorey
Tobermorey is a tiger and the mascot of this here website. His name comes from a short story by Saki, "Tobermory", from The Chronicles of Clovis, a must read. Tobey is much more well behaved than his name sake. He is not a persona of any real person, living, dead, or otherwise.
Several talented artists help portray Tobey and his friends, as well as backgrounds, special effects, and music for this site. Below are some pictures of the chars starting from newest to oldest. Katie is Tobey's friend who just happens to be a Deaf wolf. She is the only deaf person in her family. She often feels insecure about how uncool she is compared to her younger sister, Loopy. When she first meets Tobey, they struggle to communicate. She's still not too sure what to think of him.
Kidder Fox is a close friend of Tobermorey. He's eccentric and weird. He always, always wears a shirt because of a scar that runs across his chest, but you can still see his scar a little bit on the front right side of his neck and just over his heart, where it looks like three claw marks. (Freak accident while performing a Samoan fire knife dance; it’s a long story.) He also is missing part of his left ear from a car accident. His hobbies include travel, hanging out with friends, playing videogames, surfing the Internet, and watching some but not all anime.
Lost's real name is Lazarus, but he has never liked his real name, so when his friends Tobermorey and Kidder started calling him "Lost" because he has no sense of direction, he stuck with that nickname. He spends a lot of time reading maps and wondering where he is. His hobbies include hanging out with his friends, science (especially astronomy), and surfing the Internet.
Dexter is an ambidextrous lizard who is Deaf and loves sports and texting on his mobile. He also is the mascot for the lizzardzone.com. His friends, such as Katie, sometimes call him "Dex". He recently moved to Noble Woods, Oregon for school and is friends with Katie and others in the Deaf community.
Loopy is Katie's younger sister. She can be quiet and shy around people she doesn't know, but, as her name suggests, she is often wild and rambunctious when she's with her close friends. Even though Loopy is hearing, she signs ASL fairly well because she started learning when Katie started learning to sign rather than relying on lip reading. Loopy knows that her older sister can be jealous of how cool she is in social settings, but secretly Loopy is jealous of how smart Katie is and how she excels academically when that's never been one of Loopy's strengths.
Koyo is a young coyote who is hearing but mute. She decided to learn sign language after losing her ability to speak in an accident. Koyo tends to be a loner, at least that's the way she comes across since she moved to Noble Woods. However, she hangs out with Katie and other Deaf people because she can converse with them in sign language, and she likes to practice the language too.
